Many Singapore companies are considering venturing out or have already ventured into Myanmar, set up businesses or factories and employed locals to run their operations.

What are the issues concerning employment in Myanmar that companies must look out for? Is there any regulatory control over employment contracts entered into with the local employees and what are the protection accorded to them under the laws of Myanmar? Is there severance pay and how is it calculated? What are the occupational safety and health laws to observe? Learning Objectives

This workshop wants to provide guidance to HR departments of companies in the regulatory framework under Myanmar laws governing employment and employee occupational health and safety in Myanmar. The trainer seeks to highlight critical issues underlying termination of employment contracts and will examine the new requirements under the safety and health laws. This workshop aims to be an interactive session which enables companies to engage with the trainer on real issues that may be encountered in doing business in Myanmar.

Trainer Profile

Florence Goh is partner and the Head of Corporate department of Joseph Tan Jude Benny LLP. Her area of expertise covers a broad spectrum of corporate work which includes negotiating and advising her clients on cross border deals for foreign investments, joint ventures, collaborations, mergers and acquisitions in various countries including Myanmar and Indonesia. Her area of practice also expanded into the digital space where she assists clients to venture into Fintech and e-commerce online business. With her years of work involving Myanmar, she is well positioned to provide direction and offer professional consulting and legal advice to anyone keen to venture into the new land of opportunities within the new regulatory framework.
