*RISE* Virtual Learning: Plan & Manage Performance Appraisal

SYNOPSIS
An effective performance management system will seek to align expectations and performance of the staff with the organisation’s goals and objectives. This will motivate employees to deliver results which achieve goals and targets of the organisation.

This interactive online workshop taking place during two consecutive 2.5 hours sessions is meant to provide information and knowledge about Plan and Manage Effective Performance Appraisals. These programmes will cover 2 sessions.

The above 2 sessions could also be a standalone topics and participants can choose which session are relevant to them. However, this virtual learning workshop will cover all two sessions with the indicated dates.

Learning Objectives
The aim of the workshop is to equip Reporting Officers (managers or supervisors) with knowledge and skills to plan and conduct the performance appraisal in collaboration with staff members under their charge.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the workshop, the participant is able to plan and conduct an effective performance appraisal by:

  1. Developing a structured process to manage staff performance.
  2. Determining critical work functions, key tasks and performance expectations for the staff member.
  3. Setting job targets (key performance indicators) for staff member in support of relevant goals identified for the team.
  4. Planning and conduct of regular performance appraisal reviews to provide feedback and coach staff.
  5.  Developing a performance improvement plan for staff member who does not meet job targets during the performance appraisal reviews.

Methodology

  • Workshop will be conducted online using Zoom. There will be two sessions.
  • Short lectures interspersed with discussions and group activities for topics of the workshop.
  • Participants are encouraged to bring along a tablet/laptop to access documents for respective sector of the Skills Framework.
