Eyeing Asia : Employment Law In Thailand

Overview

Thailand's labour laws and regulations differ significantly from its neighbouring Asian countries. Comparing to other countries in Southeast Asia, Thailand's labour laws are rather highly developed and protective of employees' rights and benefits. Labour dispute cases are likely end up in favour of employees. Nevertheless, the current new employment laws provide most employers the flexibility in managing their labour issues, such as in areas of staff recruitment process, retrenchment etc. 

This ½ day workshop will provide an overview of the minimum requirements for foreign employers. They would be able to understand Thailand's existing labour laws and regulations including answers and solutions to current employment issues faced at the workplace. The trainer would share real life cases, practices and experiences in dealing with the increasingly complex employment laws in Thailand.

Threenuch is Executive Partner at ZICO Law Thailand. Her practices focuses on banking and finance, corporate matters, competition laws, employment and securities laws. Threenuch possesses extensive experience in assisting both Thai and multinational clients in setting up their business operations and providing advices on the relevant laws regarding foreign investment in Thailand e.g. compliance with land allocation, banking, securities, telecommunication, competition, e-commerce, direct market, payment systems and e-money, insurance, data protection, exchange control laws.

Threenuch has been involved in a number of transactions concerning cross-border acquisitions and banking facilities with investors in Thailand. She also advises a number of labour legal issues for compliance with Thai labour laws.


Threenuch joined ZICO Law in October 2007, prior to which she was a Legal Intern at Cohen Stimpert & Ford LLP, Los Angeles (June 2007). She was Legal Officer at the Bureau of Finance and Fiscal, the Comptroller General's Department in the Ministry of Finance, Bangkok Thailand from November 2001 to May 2002.
