Financial statements are often relied on for decision-making. The risk of misinterpretation can be high if one is not aware of the basis upon which financial statements are prepared in the first place.  De-mystify and make better sense of financial statements today! The course aims to empower participants with:

  • the underlying meanings of different terms found in financial statements and why we should investigate deeper,
  • how transactions are finally reflected in the financial statements, and
  • common “grey” areas in the recording of transactions.

Programme Methodology
Lectures and exercises, and condensed published financial statements of a company listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore will be used.

Target Audience

Managers & executives who wish to understand accounting fundamentals before moving on to analyzing financial statements.

TRAINER'S INFORMATION:
Mr Chow Chan Kwan has delivered accounting and finance lectures to students pursuing the Certificate in Management (CIM) at the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), and conducted in-house financial training during the initial stage of his career as a statistics and research officer at a Malaysian Bank.

Chow holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Accounting and Finance from Ohio University in the USA. While pursuing his MBA degree, he delivered accounting lectures to freshmen students, a provision under the university’s Graduate Assistant Scholarship Scheme.
