Overview

Performance appraisals are crucial moments where managers, supervisors, and staff come together to assess the achievement of agreed-upon objectives. When conducted effectively, appraisals can motivate employees, retain talent, foster development, and drive outstanding organisational growth and performance.

However, a performance management system encompasses much more than evaluating staff performance. It is a comprehensive approach that includes setting objectives, monitoring progress, evaluating outcomes, and developing personalised training and development plans. To create an effective performance management system that truly motivates, retains, and develops staff, managers, supervisors, and employees involved in appraisals must view the process as a holistic system that supports the organisation's overall success.
